Graphics are pretty much the same as in Dragon Warrior Reborn I. The typical NES-style sprites are still there, giving this game the feel of the old Dragon Quest and similar games again.

The music is also the same as in Dragon Warrior Reborn I, although Dragon Warrior Reborn II doesn't have an MP3 version. Still, the midi music fits the game better than any MP3 would be able to.

The world of this game is vast. It will take you several weeks to travel from one point to the other. Of course, these weeks are in-game ones, as the game still has the day/night system, but it will take you several hours, even when using monster-repelling items.

Have you ever wondered how a kingdom fares after a hero saves the day, princess and entire kingdom? Here's your chance to find out. After you have killed the dragon and brought the seven balls of light back to the king in Dragon Warrior Reborn I, some generations live in peace. One day, a local youth who's been living in the village the late hero built sets out to explore the world. It is up to you to guide this youth to safety and discover the dark plot that's brewing.

The world of Dragon Warrior Reborn 2 is vast. It will take you several weeks to travel from one point to the other. Of course, these weeks are in-game ones, as the game still has the day/night system, but it will take you several hours, even when using monster-repelling items, to travel from one end to the other. In other words: all explorers will be able to fulfill their hearts' desire with this game, traveling through hill and valley, navigating through numerous caves, visiting shrines, hanging out in towns and castles and even sail the seas!

Aside from exploring, you will meet several characters with a story of their own, some of which will come along with you, while others prefer to walk their line of life away from yours. Some characters will allow you to hunt down hidden objects that will make life easy, while others will just mention something like what they had for dinner. Aside from the lively world of the locals, you will also encounter a wide array of monsters, going from blobs, over magic clouds up to giant baboons and crabs. Sometimes, you will have to fight, no matter what a pacifist you are, so you better make sure you have the best equipment around, and are strong enough to handle whatever fate throws at you.

Now I hear you wonder how Dragon Warrior Reborn 2 compares to Dragon Warrior Reborn 1. Well, graphics are pretty much the same, and so is the music, although Dragon Warrior Reborn 2 doesn't have an MP3 version. Still, the midi music fits the game better than any MP3 would be able to. The plot itself isn't laid out as clearly, so there's a lot of plot elements that will appear piece by piece, slowly building up the story. Another part is that in Dragon Warrior Reborn 2, you can travel with the aid of magical shrines, and there's a bigger variety of castles and towns spread across the world.

The thing that has changed the most remarkably during all those generations, is that there's been a serious loss of faith or religious feeling among the citizens. In Dragon Warrior Reborn 1, you had a priest in every town and castle. In Dragon Warrior Reborn 2, there's a distinct lack of them. You'll find yourself traveling back to your home town to save your game, then back through fields of low-level monsters which won't give you enough XP or gold for your level far more than is good. That's the only major downside of this game, as even with this, it's still highly enjoyable.

If you're up for an epic adventure in the bustling world of monsters and warriors, fighting their way to the end like in the old days definitely shouldn't miss up on Dragon Warrior Reborn 2.
