The graphics are only as good as they need to be. The clouds, of course, have the best textures. If you soar close to cities or islands, you can see a slight lack of detail on them, and you can actually fly through them, but this could be on account of the daydreaming.

While fighting and befriending the forces of nature, the musical score also keeps up the slow pace, with chimy and tingly songs to help you relax, and zzz...oops! Sorry.

Gameplay

The game is not short, as it has several levels of varying difficulty. The replayability is high, as these levels make you feel relaxed, and make you want to play them again and again.

Most video games are quite challenging, hectic, or action packed. Most create constant, yet fun, chaos, and most demand quite a lot of concentration. It is true, there are not many games out there that keep you relaxed. There are some, but not many. Even fewer are the games made JUST for relaxation. A good example would be Brain Age Academy by Nintendo. Made for the brain, and made to help you relax a little bit every day.  Today we bring you a multi
genre game, and one that is made for those who love relaxation, the blue sky and clouds. We bring you the independently made freeware game Cloud.

He is tired. Tired of his hospital bed, tired of being held down, tired of the medicine, tired of being alone. He forgot what it was like, to soar among the clouds. “Close your eyes” she said. The Clouds....are calling. You play the role of a boy who has no friend in the world, except the clouds. You must protect your friends, and the city in which you live. Soar among the skies, and feel that freedom that a life of flying brings. Enjoy life, and give the boy a life of joy in Cloud. Feel the feeling of freedom, of childishness, and of imagination like you've never experienced it before.

The mechanics of this game are all geared towards relaxation. I almost fell asleep while playing this game, but in a good way. You have several activities to choose from, all taking place in the sky. There is one shining pure cloud in each level, and this cloud can become your friend. Once you make friends with the cloud, it can follow you, or you can collect it. Drawing the cloud to good clouds causes the good clouds to become pure. After a bit of collecting, you will have an enormous cloud friend, whom you can collect, and use to make a shape in the sky. The boy normally enjoys making shapes
of his favorite things, like video game characters, or candy. Sometimes, evil clouds darken the skies, and try to invade your happy land. Then you must fight these clouds, or stop them from entering your territory. If an island becomes barren or catches fire, you can connect pure clouds into storm clouds to produce rain. If you feel like being near the water, you can soar down under the clouds as well.

While fighting and befriending the forces of nature, the musical score also keeps up the slow pace, with chimy and tingly songs to help you relax,
and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz........oops! Sorry. Whenever you connect pure clouds, a little chime is played as well. The sound effects are sparse, but
unneeded anyway. The graphics in this game are also only as good as they need to be. The clouds, of course, have the best textures. If you soar close to cities and islands, you can see the slight lack of detail on them, and you can actually fly through them as well, but this could just be written off because the boy is technically daydreaming anyway. The game is not short, as it has several levels of varying difficulty. The replayability is high, as these levels make you feel relaxed, and make you want to play them again and again.

The underlying message in this game is slightly sad, as you just know the boy is dying, yet being in the boys shoes and feeling that final freedom, is very relaxing. As a game, Cloud only gets a four, due to it being slightly empty, though the emptiness of the levels and the shortness of the story add to the relaxation, but still. I am a reviewer, and I have to judge how Cloud is as a game, so if any of you gamers don’t agree, well then that is up to you. I suggest downloading this EXTREMELY relaxing game, and find out for yourself. And did I mention that the game is relaxing?
